A bracelet changes a watch more than almost anything else you can do to it. To show how much, we put one Omega Speedmaster Date, with its blue dial and blue tachymeter bezel, on three bracelets: the original steel, the Thorjarn Mesh Bracelet and the Thorjarn President Bracelet. Same watch, same light, same Norwegian fjord. Here is what changes.

The watch: Omega Speedmaster Date

An automatic chronometer chronograph with a blue dial, a matching blue tachymeter bezel and a date window at three o'clock. It is a practical, everyday Speedmaster, and a good test case, because its look depends so heavily on what is on the wrist.

1. The original steel bracelet

The factory bracelet is solid and correct. It is also glossy and heavy-linked, and it gives the watch a formal, office-ready character. We use it as the reference point. If you swap, store the original bracelet and clasp safely, so the watch can always return to factory configuration.

2. Thorjarn Mesh Bracelet

Woven 316L stainless steel mesh with a solid-milled clasp and a matte satin finish. It drapes softly, adjusts finely and turns the Speedmaster into a lighter, more modern watch. Mesh has become a popular upgrade on Omega dive watches such as the Seamaster 300M and Planet Ocean, and it works just as well on a chronograph.

3. Thorjarn President Bracelet

Three-link construction with rounded, flowing links, inspired by the vintage 1450-style bracelet that Speedmaster collectors chase on the used market. Ours is made in modern 316L steel with a milled clasp and a matte satin finish. It sits close to the wrist, carries more weight and gives the watch a classic, confident presence.

Which bracelet should you choose?

• President: classic and vintage-inspired, with more weight and a stronger wrist presence.
• Original: factory-correct, and the right choice if you want the watch exactly as Omega delivered it.
